The Events Industry provides a critical product in the context of sustainability of the Irish Economy and Tourism. The delivery of events varies greatly on a national level with some counties saturated in terms of volume of events, while others host the occasional event. This leads to a varying knowledge base among statutory agencies and prescribed bodies. The current Codes of Practice are out of date and the current legislation is not fit for all purposes. This combined with a lack of national standards and processes can create confusion and frustration for event organisers.

We are a group of practitioners and service providers in the industry with combined experience of the industry from within the public sector, health and safety, programming, production and event management service provision. Having experienced some of the issues identified above, we believed it was timely to set up an Association that would provide a distinct and effective voice and representation of all sectors of the event industry in Ireland, in order to improve standards, update legislation, improve access to training and accreditation and make representation for greater co-ordination and standardisation of statutory processes.
