We were very happy to attend the International Live Events Association’s (ILEA) Back in Action webinar, where event organisers from Abu Dhabi/San Francisco, Canada and the UK candidly spoke about how they are operating in COVID. Points included running at 50% capacity, the move towards a paperless industry (no tickets, menus, brochures, mobile phone ordering for food and drinks), the focus on seated food service (3 people seated at a table for 8 people, no self-serve or buffet options), the importance of ventilation, especially in older buildings and the usage of ultraviolet-C (UVC) radiation to disinfect and fogging machines that spread mist or vapor of antiviral disinfectant solution. The economics of PCR testing, personal protection equipment, increased sanitation, training costs and the reimagining of processes including staggered egress, heat maps for planning purposes, meter timing entry and building studios onsite to support the hybrid element of their event, were also touched on. You can view the discussion below.
