–FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE–
The Event Industry Association of Ireland (EIAI), along with other Industry representative groups met with Minister Catherine Martin, her team, and representatives from other relevant departments Wednesday 18th August.
EIAI highlighted the urgent need for continued financial supports, ongoing and meaningful cross-departmental engagement, and a roadmap for the safe return of event activity.
EIAI submitted an Event Industry Recovery Plan to all relevant Government Ministers and agencies last week, including those present at Wednesday’s meeting. We acknowledged that the Event Industry has heard the concerns raised by NPHET and the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Covid-19 regarding event activity. In response we have proposed a confidence inducing Event Safety Certificate, a defined roadmap for industry, and a range of rectification and recovery measures, including a number of key safeguards to protect and support the Event Industry going forward. It’s time to get workers in the Event Industry back to full time work where they belong.
We now call on Taoiseach Micheál Martin, to ensure that Minister Catherine Martin is included at the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Covid-19 so that she can represent the needs of our industry at this critical juncture.
